Allan is a member of the British Acupuncture Council (BAcC). With over 3,000 members it is the largest regulatory body for qualified traditional acupuncturists in the UK.
Acupuncture is one of the oldest forms of healing known to mankind.
Acupuncture originated in China and spread to many countries of the Orient, where it has evolved into varying styles of practice. Acupuncture has been the subject of study, assessment and development for over two thousand years. It still features in mainstream healthcare, both as a stand-alone therapy and in combination with conventional western medicine.
Acupuncture is now widely used and accepted all over the world. In the UK more and more people are finding out what it can do for them.
Traditional acupuncture is based on the principle that good health is dependent on the balanced functioning of the body’s vital energy, which is known as Qi (pronounced ‘chee’)
This energy flows throughout the body to reach all living tissue, down to the last cell, where it is responsible for such roles as activating cells as well as nourishing and protecting..
Qi energy is involved in our growth, development, constitutional strength and ability to fight disease. Indeed, it is essential in every aspect of our health and wellbeing.
When we suffer from ill health, the Oriental view is that the vitality and correct functioning of the energy systems have been disrupted.
I use Traditional Oriental diagnosis to find the energetic weaknesses and obstructions that have led to a breakdown in health for each patient. Acupuncture treatments are aimed at restoring balance and harmony and when used in a holistic way, treatments provide a healing tonic and uplift to the whole constitution, as well as dealing with the symptoms of disease.
