![]() Allan Johnstone BAcC MBAcC Is trained and qualified in both the Classical 5 Element and Traditional Chinese Medicine 8 Principle styles of acupuncture and has been working as an acupuncturist in Somerset since 1983. Click here for notes on Allan’s training. Acupuncture is one of the oldest forms of healing known to mankind. Acupuncture originated in China and spread to many countries of the Orient, where it has evolved into varying styles of practice. Acupuncture has been the subject of study, assessment and development for nearly five thousand years. Traditional acupuncture is based on the principle that good health is dependent on the balanced functioning of the body’s vital energy, which is known as Qi (pronounced ‘chee’) This energy flows throughout the body to reach all living tissue, down to the last cell, where it is responsible for such roles as activating, nourishing and protecting. Qi is involved in our growth, development, constitutional strength and ability to fight disease. Indeed, it is essential in every aspect of our health and wellbeing. I use Oriental diagnosis to find the energetic weaknesses and obstructions that have led to a breakdown in health for each patient. |
