With a known, documented history of over two thousand years and likely to have been in use for much longer, acupuncture is one of the oldest healing systems in the world. Still practiced today and integrated with conventional medicine in the Orient, acupuncture is widely used and accepted in the Western world.

There is a great deal of information relating to the effectiveness of acupuncture available on the internet. You might look at sources from the World Health Organisation, the British Acupuncture Council and the Journal of Chinese Medicine, amongst many others.
