What can Acupuncture help?

Naturally enough, prospective patients are keen to know whether I have had success in treating their particular problem and over the years, I have seen many patients with a very wide range.

An exhaustive list is impractical, but commonly encountered conditions include anxiety states, allergies, arthritis, asthma, back, neck and joint pain, circulatory problems, depression, digestive and eliminative disorders, insomnia, menstrual problems, migraine and headaches, rheumatism, skin conditions, tinnitus, tiredness and lack of motivation etc.

Sometimes patients just feel unwell in themselves, but they can’t quite put their finger on what is wrong. Generally, these patients have already been through the western medical system and the result of all their tests came back ‘negative’.

Others can feel worn out and depleted from the stresses and strains going on in their lives. Ironically, relaxing and getting good sleep becomes progressively more difficult and a whole raft of symptoms can emerge, just because their systems are struggling along on low power.

Treatment can also be very effective in dealing with recent acute problems like sciatic pain, neck spasm, colds etc.

When treatment is directed at restoring the overall energy balance it is usual for the patient to experience an improvement in their overall condition. Patients frequently say ‘I am feeling much better in myself’ which can refer to increased energy, vitality and enthusiasm, greater enjoyment of life, better confidence, improved sleep, a more normal appetite and so on. Often, groups of apparently unrelated symptoms will resolve.

Acupuncture treatment is suitable for most people of all ages and occupations. Treatment works well with patients receiving conventional medical treatment from their doctor, as well as those who are having chiropractic, osteopathy and other complementary medicine.
